THE home

Another chapter in our lives was buying our house. It seemed like a big deal to get a realtor and go looking but we did it. Some homes looked so small we wondered how furniture was going to fit! We turned down homes before we even saw the insides of it!
It was Halloween night, around dinner, they called us to see if we wanted to go look at a home, neither one of us wanted to go look at it. We were just about to sit down and eat. Then we started talking.......what if it's THE house? ........but it's never THE house.........but what if it is?........
We went to see it.......and it WAS the house!

Here we are at the signing.....

The morning of signing the papers, we found out, by complete surprise, we were going to have our second baby! I was so excited because we had tried for a couple years and finally gave up hope.

Go figure. Well, I couldn't help with the painting, or tearing up of old carpet or anything else. I was sick! I told Troy to do what he thought looked good. We moved in our home the first part of December.

Dylan came home in July...

That was better than the house!!!

chapters that create a story

Dawson has always had allergies, eczema, and asthma. Either one at a time or all at the same time. Ever since he was a baby his skin always felt like sandpaper and he itched and itched and itched!! We used every ointment, cream, lotion, steroid we could find. Nothing helped this poor kid. We used to tape oven mitts to his hands at night and he would get those off and just scratch till he bled. Then when his allergies got bad he was put on inhalers, more steroids, and antihistamines. He would be so full of medications that he wouldn't sleep for over 24 hours at times. We found out the hard way that he was allergic to peanuts, peas, peaches, soy, tree nuts, grass, blueberries, eggs and fish. When they call it projectile vomit.....they mean it!

At 3 Dawson was was finally tested by an allergist, and I wasn't going crazy or being over protective.......he really was allergic to everything!!

This led to some overnight stays in the hospital.

You knew when he wanted his pizza, he was feeling better!

Caitlin has some allergies too. She's allergic to dairy. This is what happens to her if she touches milk......

she breaks out in hives. Poor baby :(
So we don't eat out, I prepare everything homemade. I re-arrange recipes so everyone can eat.
I thank God for Dylan who can eat anything, touch anything, breathe anything and is totally fine!
It's hard sometimes, not taking care of them, but the constant mind games in trying to find out what causes it flair up when it does. Like last night out of the clear blue, Dawson's bottom lip started swelling up. We couldn't figure it out!
Just little chapters in our life that creates our little story. Life would be boring without chapters. :)

My Story

While looking for pictures of Dawson the other day, I found so many other pictures that I thought would be fun to blog about.

So I guess I'll start from the beginning....

This is our wedding day......Yes, I got married in pants. No, I was not married before. :)

Troy and I got married when I was 28 and he was 37. We were the last of all our friends to get married. We didn't have any showers or bridesmaids or groomsmen. We didn't want to go through any of that stuff, we just wanted to get married.

Troy and I had our first date in Oct. and we got married in Jan. ( 3 months later ) I know, crazy huh!

We were going to elope right up to about a week before. Then we ended up just having immediate family coming to this cute little chapel. I'm glad we did that. It was the best wedding ever!

(you can click the pictures for a larger view )
I was a hair stylist, I guess I still am, just not a working one. :) And Troy was in construction. He was the superintendent on a job, building a salon I was going to manage. He caught my eye....he had big shoulders, and his eyes showed me how sweet his heart was. I was hooked! :) So, I guess our story started at that moment. :)

11

Como se dice.....FiEsTa!!!

We celebrated Mexican style this year for Dawson's birthday! It was truly his day for whatever he wanted to do. We started last night.....yes, last night. We stayed up till midnight to get the last hugs from my 10 year old! We talked about what he thought he'd like to do when he turned 11. He said he wants his dad to take him fishin'.

Special birthday breakfast was home made donuts, requested by the birthday boy. And dinner was of course tacos with his garden jalapenos....

I couldn't resist the big hot pepper pinata.........

Gifts were great too! He got some dinero from grandma, and Papa and Tutu gave him an 1897 peso that his great great grandfather bought in the 1960's. He thought that was pretty cool!
I made 2 birthday cakes......one was edible. I don't know what happened to my first attempt. It never got higher than an inch tall. The second came out perfect! It's a recipe Troys grandmother used to make.
Well, now I have a whole year of learning what an 11 year old can do. Should be an interesting journey! Dawson is such a great kid, I'm proud of him! He looks like me, has his dads humor, cooks like a pro, Spirit filled, loves his cat, Lego building kid!
Happy Birthday Dawson......xoxox MOM :)

memory lane....

Getting ready for a fiesta!
Dawson turns 11 tomorrow! We are having a (very) small fiesta with tacos and chips and salsa!
I should be baking a cake......but had to go down memory lane first

This is how big you get when you have a 10lb 2oz baby! It has nothing to do with the dunkin donuts!! This was our Lamaze class break.

Getting ready to go into surgery....we didn't know what we were having or how big it was going to be!!!

A baby boy! as I said 10lb. 2 oz. and he was 4 days early!!

No hair for years!

My favorite picture of all times :)
Oh Dawson! Sometimes I wish I could have you all over again but know what I know now! You are a blessing! I Love you xoxoxoxoxox

Why is it when I have so much to do I waste the most time!?

My laundry pile is getting higher, the dishes aren't done from this morning, kids are hungry for lunch.....I gotta check facebook......now a short post, wondering if anybody reads this anymore.

Guess I'm going through a funk. I need a nap, or maybe coffee?

Walking is running with patience.

I heard that in church Sunday morning. Isn't it great! I love that!

I have been working hard lately, trying to get my little business going. I have been taking orders, sewing, altering, hemming, anything that comes my way. I don't know how it happened but I am considered a seamstress now. :)
I wanted to have my etsy store going by now, and The Pink Blueberry blog hasn't seen a post in weeks! Sometimes I wonder why I even started the whole thing! I sing in my head....just keep swimming, just keep swimming swimming! (that's from the movie Nemo if you don't have kids!)
I guess I'm just running with patience. Slowly but surely I'll get this thing going!

This Thurs. is Dawson's birthday. We are having a fiesta! ole! He wants tacos for dinner and grandparents are coming. He wants a cake with a jalapeno on it. :) I'm not to sure how I'm going to pull that off!?!

We took the Mexico theme in our school room. The boys are learning about Mexico and learning words and phrases in Spanish. You should hear Dylan say Happy Birthday (Feliz Cumpleanos ) and he says aloha for hola. :) Caitlin runs around the house with a sombrero on saying, adios!

Troy hasn't found work yet. I'm trying not to panic:) I always said he would work for me in my business! :) I didn't really mean it;)

We got the head cold thing going on here. I started the whole thing. Then gave it to Caitlin who gave it to Dylan who gave it to Dawson who gave it back to Dylan.....Everyone is congested and can't hear out of their ears. I am overdosing them on vitamin C and we have watched every movie we have on the shelf. :)
The house is a mess and I haven't been out of my PJ'S. today. Of course that has nothing to do about being sick, just the way it goes here. :)

This was fun to see in the garden today ...
.
Our jalapeno plant has been the best producer by far! We cut off 5 or 6 at a time. Today the plant is starting to ripen and give us some red peppers, It looked like a Christmas tree! :)
And finally after 3 vines and 12 feet of plant I have 1 pumpkin! :)

construction runs in the family

I sent the kids outside to play in the rain today after our school time. They weren't too happy about it. I told them to go look for bugs. Little boys like that kind of stuff...right?! This is what they came up with....

Actually this is Dylan's piece of architecture. It's called Dylan's Clubhouse. It has a front door and a window. It did have bricks inside that were supposed to be stairs but he said that was a waist of bricks! Caitlin LOVES it too as you can see.
I love an imagination of a child. There are no boundaries to stop them. Dylan wanted to just pull a wire from the house so he could have t.v. in his new place. That didn't happen :)
They were filthy from head to toe and I loved it! The Bible says if you don't work you don't eat. All that hard work deserved a couple oreos in the clubhouse. Happy Campers. :)
