Pink sky at night is a sailors delight........This was last nights sky, and boy was today a gorgeous day. Finally after all the rain this past week, we got some sunshine! I don't know about you but when your stuck inside for days with rain and wind, it can get you down in the dumps. A sunny day was just what the Dr. ordered!

It rained day and night here for at least 4 days. And the genius that I am, I left my car door open all night long one of those nights. Not my little passenger door but the big sliding side door on my van, with car seats, floors, seats, carpet everything exposed to nothing but pouring down rain in a tropical storm. I can remember getting all the kids out of the car that night in the rain and looking back to see if the door shut, because I use the button on my key chain to shut and lock the door. It looked shut to me, either I pushed the button to open it again by accident or something was in the way when the door shut and it reopened itself.

Here's how I find out... It's Friday and that means bagels, but it's raining so bad we decide to cancel till lunch. At noon, the kids and I go out to the car, OPEN the door to get in and the place is flooded, Caitlin's car seat, the seats the doors the backseats....everything! I'm thinking the door must have a leak, (duh) but how did it get in the back? DUUHHH! We are late getting to bagels because, well......everything is WET! We get home and the phone rings, it's my neighbor calling from work to tell me she forgot to call earlier but when she left that morning she saw my door wide open and thought "that's not right" and shut it for me. ( HAHA are you laughing yet)

Thank goodness for febreeze! And kind neighbors who will get out in the rain to shut your car door when you have had a major blond moment!

Don't count your years....

I have been thinking of this a lot lately. This year is the big 4 oh for me. I hate to even type it. I am not growing old gracefully, I am fighting it all the way!

Then I read this on a card, "don't just count your years, make your years count.

We don't know how long we have on this Earth, everyday is a blessing. I have to make these years count. I am sure this world won't stop just because I'm turning 40, so I might as well take it on with full force and enjoy the ride!

Prov. 12:25

Proverbs 12:25
We are going over Proverbs this month and this one has been on our white board for a week now. Not even thinking twice about it really, just a verse to put in our notebook. Not until I read every ones "encouraging words" in my comment section did I realize how weighed down I was and how glad my heart became. So thank you for every ones "comments" Because of them I am getting back on track and have a smile on my face!

Ramblings of a homeschool mom

Well here we are officially starting another school year. I sat my kids down this morning and welcomed them to the 1st and 4th grade." Good Morning!" " I am your teacher Mrs. Stitt" I say with a smile. With a roll of the eyes from the 4th grader I get back a sarcastic, "just like last year."
For a moment, I asked myself, why are you doing this? Why go through another year of researching subjects, countless trips to the library, endless hours on the Internet, copies copies copies of worksheets, all for just big yawns from the 2 students I have. I could be getting a pedicure and have lunch with a friend or play tennis with the girls and go shopping. But, since the big yellow bus did not come to pick them up this morning, we went on as planned for our home school day. Yawns and all.
Our first subject.....Art. let's start out nice and easy, we go over shading...
Dawson: Whats this for?
Dylan: Are we supposed to color all the page?
Caitlin: I want to draw with the pencil!
Dylan: Cait_liiin! that's my pencil you get another one
Caitlin: THAT'S MY PENCIL!
Dawson: I need to sharpen my pencil.
Caitlin: I sharpen mine too
Dylan: these leaves look like hearts
Dawson: Caitlin you can't sharpen your own pencil.
Caitlin: starts to roll all over the kitchen floor......
Dylan: DONE!
Mrs. Stitt: Dylan, you need to color the whole paper.
Dawson: MOM, Caitlin dropped her cheerios on the floor.
Dylan: DONE!

Somebody.. remind me why I do this again.

So today was a little hard to get back into the swing of things. I'm sure it will get better.

Dawson was talking to me tonight about someone who wasn't very nice to him recently. I said, you know he just doesn't know any better, maybe he will change. Dawson said, "I know, I know...Love those who hate you , Pray for those who persecute you." WHAT! Where did you learn that!?!

he said,
FROM YOU!

8-8-8

Some days are good, and some days are very good. I am happy to say that this was a very good day for us. Can everybody say 76 degrees!! Cool air is in the house!! And it feels soooo good!

I don't know how anyone got by without air in days past. They must have always been at the watering hole fishin' and swimin'. I always thought I would have liked to live in the days of little house on the prairie........yeah right, I wouldn't last a week. My bread machine broke a month ago and I have to make bread by hand now. I thought I was a real pioneer lady on the homestead. You can take my bread machine but not my air conditioning!

So how do you celebrate finally having air after not having it for over a week? You leave the house to go out in the sun all day and go swimming. Still, to walk into the House and have "cool" meet you at the door........priceless!

So I think I will spend the rest of the night watching the numbers on my thermostat go down. It puts a smile on my face!

why aren't you blogging?

This is a question I got from my brother by an e mail today. I guess a pic. here and there is not real blogging and I have been neglecting the responsibility that goes with a .blogspot.com blog.
You see, the truth is, It's hard to blog!
How do people do this? How can you take a moment of your life and put it out there in words so the world, (or in my case about 4 people) would find it enjoyable to read? I tell you the truth when I say, it's very hard!
O.k., do you want to know how my day went..............just like the day before! How exciting is that to blog! (roll of eyes!)
I would like to grow up to be a great blogger one day and have my posts filled with world changing thoughts and humor that keeps you coming back for more. Maybe even get more than 2 comments every once in a while. ( I love getting comments!)
So, this stay at home mom, who has a wonderful life with 3 kids and a hard working husband, is going to take this blogging thing seriously, and try to find a little of this or that in her day and create a paragraph or two out of it.
