last week

This week was filled with fun! My mom had her 72nd birthday, my church had their annual trunk or treat, play dates, cooler weather, lots going on.

Let's start with a birthday....

We took homemade blueberry muffins to my mom for breakfast and gave her a funny homemade birthday shirt. She came over later in the day to have dinner with cake and ice cream. The kids washed her car for her. It was a good day.

The next event was Trunk or Treat at church. I went as "granny" and I have come to realize I have no dignity what so ever......

yep that's me! And those are socks in my bra!! NOBODY recognized me. Troy about fell off his chair when I walked out to show him my outfit. I think he was surprised that I left the house looking like that.

The superstar of the evening was Dylan. He had been practicing all month to perform on stage for everyone in his "Wee sing kidz praise" program. He did a great job!

Here are some other little things going on.

This is Caitlin....rubbing grandmas lipstick all over her....isn't she beautiful!

Here's Sam getting bigger and bigger.

Troy's banana tree has bananas!

till next time!! :)

a stuffed pumpkin

You start with a pumpkin and take out the insides....

Then fill it with a "stuffing" and bake for an hour and a half.

Put it on a pretty plate and serve.

I toasted the seeds and made some homemade bread to go along....total comfort food!

My stuffing:
about 1 lb. cooked hamburger
about 2 cups cooked rice
diced onions
diced green peppers
mushrooms
about 1 cup dried stovetop dressing
1 can creamed soup
salt / pepper
few shakes of soy sauce

mix it up and put it all in the pumpkin....cook 350 degrees.

My friend Tammy did this for her family last week and it looked too fun to cook! I don't think you could mess this recipe up in any way, I even cheated and used publix frozen bag of chopped up onion and green peppers and their bag of frozen mushrooms! If I do it again I am thinking some cooked sausage would be good in it.

Fall

This is fall.....right?

We filled up the pool out back and let the sun shine on our spirits today. It felt good to feel good again.

best helper award!

Oh My Word, what a week.
Something came through our home and got Dylan, Caitlin and then me. I absolutely hate it when my kids get sick, I am the mother who ALWAYS has the purell and I keep hands, grocery carts, counters... everything soaked in it. So I have no idea where this came from. And if the kids felt like I felt, they were troopers! Because I cried, my whole body ached so much! even my knee caps hurt!

But let me tell you about how great Dawson was through it all! This kid made pancakes for his brother and sister, always made sure I had enough water to drink, kept Caitlin totally entertained through the day, made lunch for everyone, and prayed his little heart out for me to get better!

And yes, Daddy took him to target today for a new transformers toy! He deserved it!

friends

I have a friend back in my life from 10(?) years ago, we went over to their house and had some fun talking and playing. I remember when I was pregnant with Dawson and having her oldest son come up to me and put his little hand on my belly. And when we were at their house last Friday, I watched him drive away for the first time in a car by himself. Crazy!

Another friend that I have known for almost 1 year, calls me up and says, "I am going to drop off a movie for you to watch" Great! You gotta love friends like that! She dropped off "Flywheel" a great movie from the makers of "Facing the Giants" and I loved it! I won't give out any spoilers but you gotta get this movie and watch it.

I have a new friend for about a month now, she goes to my church and Dylan likes to play with her son. I feel like we have always been friends, She was so sweet to call and ask if she could drive me to ladies prayer knowing I had no car last week.

I have a friend that moved to Tampa and I got to talk to her this week end on the phone. I don't think we have talked since January. I love to be able to catch up and feel like time can't take away years of friendship.

I have been following a blog recently, and I was always scared of leaving a comment because she doesn't know me at all! I found her site one night while looking up embroidered burp cloths and she was getting ready to have a baby. She never said what she was having but I knew it had to be a boy, and I kept checking in to see if I was right. :) In the meantime I feel like I am getting to know her by reading her blogs and I'm thinking, wow, we could be friends! My husband says "just leave a comment and say hi" Well, I finally did. And lo and behold she left a comment on my blog too! Voila ...A cyber friend.

I love all my friends and each one has a great story on how we met. I just thought i would share a few.

life happens

Sorry I haven't posted for a while, I have been knitting but I promise I won't post them anymore. :)

on to more exciting things..........

I don't have my car this week, major repair has to be done, oil leaking everywhere type of repair. So we sit here. Funny how you can have a car in your driveway and not want to go anywhere, then not have a car and want to go everywhere.

I almost burned the house down the other day. I made a black bean chili for dinner and at the last minute thought yellow rice would go really good with it. So I put the rice on the back burner (on low) and went outside with the kids. I totally forgot about the rice and came inside to a house full of smoke, and a pot of rice burned black. You know, corn chips go really good with black bean chili :)
