The Big Day

We had a fun anniversary today! I tried my best to keep a "12" theme going the whole day. I woke up Troy at midnight to tell him "it starts now". Don't feel too bad for him, he went to bed at 11:30. :) We had planned the day ahead of us but sometimes things don't go as planned and you turn to plan B.
I wanted to start the day at Starbucks for a 12 oz. coffee. I have never been to Starbucks and I got 2 gift cards at Christmas that I thought would be fun to use. Well we got a call from a family member who wanted to give us there 36 inch t.v.. O.K. no brainer there! So we took the Morning to get that! very cool...Thank you A.T.!!
We're ready to celebrate now, let's get out and go! We head out and while waiting at a red light, Troy said," your mirror looks funny" talking about the drivers side, side view mirror. He rolls down the window and the mirror falls off the car and into his hands! He hangs it inside the car door and asks me if I have a pair of plier cutters.........right! A trip to to PepBoys for some epoxy glue and we are off again! Woo who! Let's get this day goin'!
So next we thought we would get some food......We had our hearts set on Carrabas ( another gift card ) so we head there to find out they don't serve till 3:00. It was 1:00, what to do? Where do we go? Are you ready for this...............Subway, 5 dollar footlongs (hey it's a 12 thing!)
and after waiting what felt like 12 minutes in line, we get our food and eat. While we were sitting there, a little girl about 2 decided she wanted to sit with us. Cute little thing that made herself very comfortable next to me and waited there until, well, until I had to boot her out! I guess her family didn't care that she was with total strangers that were trying to eat their lunch without their own kids?!? geesh! :)
O.k. time for gifts! I always wanted the decals of stick people on the back of my van. You know, the dad, mom, kids and pets. Well I now have them! I got Troy a sign that I want him to put up that says "welcome to paradise" . It's a gag gift with a pink flamingo and it just makes me laugh when I see it.
How about that coffee? Na, getting to late in the day to have coffee. I'm up all night as it is, I don't need caffeine at 2:00 to pull an all nighter. That will have to wait another day, along with carrabas. We had to pick up the kids and get them home. We are thinking Valentines day, we will try again.
Like the sign says, "welcome to paradise"

5 reasons

Well I am glad to say that Dawson is home now and I am very happy his lungs are sounding better! What a scare!
Other than the whole "not breathing thing" Dawson had a good stay at the hospital. Cable t.v., phone, bed that goes in all positions! He didn't like getting an I.V. !
It did get me thinking about being a respiratory therapist. ( RT is the name we used at the hospital ) Hmmmm......something to think about.
Anyway....I have 5 reasons to be thankful today,
1. My kids are home and playing
2. I have friends and family who care about us
3. I am doing laundry instead of sitting in a hospital room
4. My mom dropped off a bag of oreos for us
5. I know God is in control

Oh how life takes twists and turns! You think not one more thing could go wrong. And then....

We had to call 911 Thurs. morning because Dawson had an asthma attack that was so severe it landed him in hospital. He is doing much better tonight but I have to say, this one was the scariest by far! He is still in the hospital tonight but showing progress!
We found out Dawson had asthma when he was two. It was triggered by a cold. And we don't have many problems with keeping it under control. But this came on so suddenly and I couldn't get it to slow down with the medication we had here. He had great medical attention and the staff at the hospital are really nice but if it was not for the prayer and support of the most wonderful friends and family, I'm sure it would have been much different.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!

I have to start by saying that I am a blogger and NOT a facebook kinda gal! I don't get it at all.....

anyway....

Had a great week end! Driving my own car and such. Just felt right :)

I am getting into another project and I think I'm over my head a little. But I just have to try...do you think I can do this for Caitlin's birthday?

Every little princess needs a cake like that on her birthday...right? I think I am setting myself up for failure!!! Maybe I should start with cupcakes :)

I just read my post and I realized I never wrote that I was talking about my car. I know you probably figured that out but thought I would clarify it.

You got to praise Him!

We had Troy's friend come over for a haircut last night and when he was here he pulled some wires out of the fuse box that might have been causing the problem. So this morning when I went out to see if it would start.........IT DID!!! We did a little jig and waited till this afternoon and tried it again.........IT DID!! We did a bigger jig and decided to actually go somewhere! We ventured off to Wal Mart where I made some deals on my coupons, 2 bars of soap and 3 deodorants for a dollar! I am so excited! Things are looking up! wink!

I was soooo in the mood for strawberry ice cream today! So I made some :) Caitlin is allergic to dairy so I make a lot of her food with soy milk. She liked the ice cream too...unfortunately, she has her mothers appetite! Girls just like to eat......right? I have my friends over and we can chow down some food! ( remember the alfredo night girlz ) That was after we had a bag of chips and salsa and those funky bean things that Helen brought that you could squirt across the room! ( sorry I am laughing out loud right now ) Then we had dessert! 2 of them! Troy doesn't understand my love for food. To him it is a complete inconvenience to eat, no fun at all, waste of time. He's such a stickinthemud! But he's my stickinthemud. :)

I tried making the ice cream without cooking it first because, well, I wanted it NOW! So I used 2 cups soy creamer and about 1 cup sugar and 1 cup frozen strawberries, blended it in the blender and poured in the ice cream maker. In 15 minutes it turned out like a soft serve ice cream but it hit the spot!

If I don't blog about it I might just cry about it! Here is the lowdown of whats been goin' down in my 'hood.
1. My cell phone charger broke...I can't do anything with it, so don't call it!
2. My car still sits in the driveway with a battery problem.....no car for me.
3. Our T.v. is possessed and when we turn it off, will turn back on by itself..... have to turn it off by unplugging it.
4. As of yesterday, Troys car doesn't go in reverse, and won't shift gears!.....Ugh! fo'real, no cars working!
5. I'll just throw this one in.....1 library book overdue :)

On a good note, My friend ( really good friend ) came over last night and left me her car in my driveway! can you believe it! The drivers seat has a built in heater! What a God thing!

Savin $$$

I have been on my coupon kick again. I started a while back and didn't keep up with it for very long, but lately there have been some great deals. At Target I walked out with 2 boxes of electrosol dish soap, 2 sticks of deodorant and 2 bottles of shampoo and cost me $5.oo! At Walgreen's I spent $4.00 for $20.00 worth of items and at Publix I saved $21.00 and spent $30.00. I haven't even gone to CVS yet, ( I LOVE CVS ) The first trip I took to cvs I spent $20.00 and got 6 boxes of cheerios, 5 bottles of Listerine, 2 bars of dove soap, 4 tubes of crest toothpaste, 1 bag of girlie stuff and still had $6.00 in extra bucks to spend! If you live near a cvs I would look into getting one of their cards and start saving some $$. Tomorrow I am sending Troy to walmart where they will actually have to give me money back for 2 bars of soap!

Welcome to Troysters

Today was our annual new years day oyster party. Troy keeps saying it's not a party just people coming over to eat. Either way there was some good food and lots of laughs!

I had Dawson in charge of the pictures on his camera so I could do other things, here is what he got......

Caitlin and grandma. Not all of us are so crazy about oysters so I made some meatballs and rice for the rest of us.

Dylan, grandma and Caitlin

Troyster, shucking up some steamed oysters. They were the biggest ones I've ever seen!

PaPa shucking too.....very serious!

Aunt Tonda capturing the moment.....
Tina and Randy came and entertained us with stories from their skiing trip. Too funny....

Tina keeping Caitlin warm with her wrap. Yes, it was cold today to us Floridians! I know you northerners are rolling your eyes!

We had a few others too, Uncle Bucky and his sister from South Carolina. It was a great day with great food. A wonderful way to start the year!
