cooking

I have been doing some cooking lately. I just got a cookbook that is called deceptively delicious, its for kids who are picky eaters. You are to add vegetable purees in certain dishes to hide them, I add pumpkin puree to hot chocolate, winter squash to mac n cheese and believe it or not spinach puree to brownies! It works! I made some Rice Krispy Treats and added flaxseed meal to them, they were really good! I can add about anything to pizza sauce and they chow it down!

Kids are doing great in school, Dylan wants to know how to do division. He's such a little go getter. We were riding our bikes today and he said it was time to go home because Caitlin didn't finish her math. (He is her teacher and he does math and spelling with her.)

11 year Anniversary

Well Thur. marks our 11th wedding anniversary. Wow! Hard to believe.....
I think we will go to the Cheesecake Factory. I will let you know how everything went.

Tonight Dawson wanted to know what it's like to be in college. I said to ask dad he went to college. Dylan, who was sitting beside me on the couch, looked at me and said," but you went to ballet! Dad went to college but you got to go to ballet." (smile)

We are still biking it around the block! An hour everyday!

bike riding

We got my bike out of storage yesterday and cleaned it up for a bike ride. We strapped Caitlin on the back and the boys followed me as we went out around the neighborhood. We were out for an hour! I haven't rode a bike in years! We all loved it! Going out again today for some fun!!

outdoors

We have been enjoying the great outdoors lately. I tell the kids we are going to the park for P.E. and they get all excited. We have been playing catch, kick ball, and throwing the Frisbee. Caitlin takes her mickey mouse ball and kicks it all over the field. It's been real fun, maybe I can loose a few lbs. while enjoying these beautiful God given days. The weather has been great and I am so thankful for just getting to play with the kids.

Dylan has mastered going across the monkey bars in the past couple days. He smiles ear to ear when he gets to the other end. I am so proud of him!!

sniffles and sneezes

Last week was full of sniffles and sneezes for us. Started with Dawson and a 102 temp. then Dylan then me. I am very thankful that Caitlin only got a runny nose out of the whole thing.
School has been going pretty good, I have been doing just workbooks since we have been sick, I haven't had a lot of energy for any unit studies. Dylan is really moving along in his notebooks. He is ready for 1st grade. He is reading first grade a beka readers and 1st grade math. I guess we will order his spelling and language first grade soon.
on a different note...
I woke up this morning to a garbage disposal that didn't work. (yuk) Then later on in the day realized the piano had a puddle on the top from my ceiling leaking,... a big puddle!
It's always something....keeps you on your toes!

dinner and a movie

We decided to go see the new veggie tales movie, "The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything".
We all had to sit on the very top row (Dylans orders) and we were practically the only ones there. I thought it would of been packed. It's a really cute movie, the kids liked it.
After the movie we went out for Mexican food. It's always fun for me to go to a restaurant. I guess it's because we hardly ever go out and it feels like such a treat to pick whatever I want off the menu and have it served to me. I'm just going to have to close my eyes when I balance the checkbook later and say," It was worth it" . It's hard to believe you can drop close to $80.oo for a family of 5 for dinner and a movie and we went to a matinee! It was worth the memory of Dylan discovering the projector on the wall behind us and looking at the screen and then the projector then the screen then the projector and so on and so on. I guess he thought it turned on like a t.v.. (smile)

the Book of Romans 12:6

The kids have bible first thing in the morning for school. We get together and read and talk about Gods word, it's really the best part of the day.

We have been reading in Romans this week. They know that they are an important part of the body of Christ and nothing can separate Gods love for them. How we struggle with sin and that there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ. That we should be a living sacrifice to God and not to think of yourself better than what you are.

I tell them every day God has made them for a special purpose, plans to prosper them. Dawson believes it is his humor that is his gift, that God made him to make others laugh. I wish I could be so sure about my gift. I take it right now that I am to be the best mom I can be to my kids and wife to my husband and do this to the best of my ability. SEE ROMANS 12:6

back to normal?

We took down all of our Christmas things and put them away last week end and we are trying to get back to normal, whatever that is.
We have started school again and seems like all is forgotten!
We are reading about inventors, because Dylan wants to be an inventor when he grows up. He says he is going to invent a rocket pack for Dawson when he gets big. We read about the Wright brothers yesterday and they had the same qualities as Dawson and Dylan. They were 4 years apart and had very different personalities but were always at each others side and could finish each others sentences. They thought that was funny.
We have also started doing current events. Dawson will read an article out of the news paper and write out in his own words what he just read about. He picked a story on what busts a budget the other day and found out fast food can really burn a hole in your pocket!

PaPa and TuTu invited us to the ICE show yesterday and boy was it COLD! 9 degrees! We got all bundled up and had a fun.
Dawson took all the pictures with his new camera. These are just a few, he took hundreds!

New years Day

We had the family over for oysters today. Troy called the back yard "Troysters" and shucked bucket after bucket. Well....he did have some help..

It was a great day! Happy New Year everyone!
