a day at the beach

We went to the beach the other day and had a great time! The boys played in the water and walked the beach to find shells and crabs.

Caitlin had fun jumping off the side of the pool into my arms.

It's kind of hard to take pictures while your 2 year old is so close to 3 pools. So when she sat for a moment I snapped this one.

Ta Dah.....the wall picture!

Troy and I both think it needs one more picture on both sides. the three in the middle are not on the wall because I think we are going to add one more to that too. Now if I can Troy to paint the wall tan it will be perfect! I just keep looking at it and smiling.

We had a luau on our back porch for Fathers Day ( and June Birthdays ).

Troys birthday happened to fall on fathers day this year so he got a 2 fer 1 deal.

There was great food, Hawaiian music and rain. It was a great day....

Friday.....the 13?

Good thing I'm not superstitious!
I had a great day today! Today I decided to do something to my living room to make it more cozy. I just focused on one wall. A very plain wall with no color. I bought black 8x10 frames with a white matte and put some black and white head shots of the kids in them. I tried my best "Potterybarn" display of them on the wall around an upright piano. I love looking at my wall now. ( I will post a pic. tomorrow in the daylight)
I was going to post a before and after shot but who cares what it looked like before!!

Now I think I will look into doing something with my windows.......add some pillows.......cover a chair.......

busy at work

Well I haven't posted in a while because I have been busy at work on my other blog. Click on beths embroidery to the right and see all the cute things I have been working on.

copper pennies

We had a small science experiment the other day. We took copper-oxide off of pennies!
We took lemon juice and salt and put our old pennies in it and they came out the most beautiful shiny pennies. We even did some pennies half and half to see the difference. Dawson is keeping one of those in his wallet to show people.
We have made a really cute lap book this week with a bunch of french words and art in it but I don't have batteries for my camera, so I can't post a picture. I will have to get some on here later.
We had some interesting vocabulary words this week:

They even tried juggling . Dawson was getting pretty good at it too!

mirette lapbook

We have started our lapbook on France. They are learning to count to ten in french, getting familiar with french food and learning about the Eiffel tower. Our book starts out with " 100 years ago in Paris" so we have been talking about the year 1908. They realize that was even before their great grandpa Norm. ( they loved him ).
I am going to have Dawson cook some chocolate mousse for us, should be as easy as " un, deux, trois"

fun afternoon

Dad took the boys bowling today after work. They were so excited, you would have thought it was their birthday.
Time with their dad is all they ever want and this was unexpected on a Wednesday afternoon.
Troy called and told me to get them ready to go. I didn't tell them where they were going till daddy got home. (they thought they were getting ready for church).
Caitlin wanted to go too, but I talked her into a girls day out. We went shopping.

Mirette on the highwire

We have moved on to another unit study book called Mirette on the High wire. It's setting is in Paris so we have started a lapbook with the theme of France. We started going over compound words,colored a map of France and a flag. We have some new vocabulary words this week too. Should be fun.
