The recipe

These really were very close to the KK donuts. I'm sure if i could use regular ingredients they would have been perfect. This was my first time ever making yeast donuts. I have a deep fryer but I don't fill it to the top with oil so you could just use a pan with about half inch of oil in it. I also had to play with the heat of the oil too. ( it wasn't rocket science just donuts )
So hope you all make these for your Saturday morning. :)
donut
1/2 C. scalded milk
2T. butter
1/4 C. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. yeast
1 egg beaten
1 3/4 C. sifted flour ( i had to add a little extra )

glaze
3/4 C powdered sugar
1/8 tsp salt
1/8 tsp. vanilla
2 T cold water

This recipe has been scaled down from 50 to about a dozen donuts. I didn't follow the glaze recipe exactly, you know, again it's not rocket science- just cooking :)

melt butter in milk
add sugar and allow it to cool.
beat in yeast, egg, and flour. ( adding flour a little at a time)
kneed for 5 min. let rise till doubled (45min?)
roll out dough, cut and let rise again 30 min.

heat oil and fry 1 -2 on each side

cool on paper towel and then dip in your glaze

keep the kids away till it's all done or you won't get any yourself! :)
