Caitlins room

I have been working on Caitlin's room. How fun it is to play with pink flowerly (it's gotta be a word) fabric. We are going with pink, green and denim. Everything so far has been given to us. Her bed, dresser, love seat, stuff like that. I am trying to watch how much I spend because I have been getting some great deals. Like yesterday I found the cutest set of window panels at Big Lots for $15.00.( A God thing...you know, last one available all the way on the back of the shelf, and fits the window.) I cut them in half and serged the bottom. Now, I have enough left over to sew a bed skirt. thrifty.......

It's not all the way done, I am wanting a denim slip cover and there are a couple more pillows to do.

a garden

We planted a garden in the back yard this week end. A 4 foot by 16 foot area that is going to grow tomatoes and cucumbers and dill. (so far). Dylan was a huge help in the process and has worked his tail off this weekend weeding and raking and planting. Caitlin liked the idea also. She dug up dirt and watched all the lizards eat bugs. Troy was the real help, he cleaned out the spot that has had a pile of tree cuttings there for years! I could not have done it alone.

a moment....

So we go to bagels like every other Fri.. We sat at our usual table, the big one right next to the front door and the waiting line. Today Caitlin had a hard time sitting still, in fact she was moving around so much that a friend from church walked in and noticed us sitting there, so while he was standing in line he kept pulling my ear, but I thought it was Caitlin and wasn't paying too much attention. In the mean time Caitlin is trying to tell me that this guy in line is touching you! I finally come back to earth and see whats going on and we all had a laugh on my behalf.

I can handle that.....

Next......

to keep Caitlin entertained I let her pull some coupons out of my purse and chap stick......she was fine and busy while I talked to my mother in law. Next thing I know Caitlin hands me something that she has been cleaning the chair with that we were sitting on.....it was my "feminine product"! She found it and unwrapped it and tore off the sticky strip paper (that I found later under the chair!) And went to town shining up the place.

OH MY!

working on the house the past few days. it just seems like nothing is moving forward or getting finished. The kids rooms are moved but not put together yet. I painted Caitlins room pink and it seems to glow in the dark! The boys need a closet. It will look so nice when it's all done, I need to throw a party or something to give me a deadline. I work better under pressure. :)

other news...
Dylan got his 2nd grade work books in the mail the other day. He acted like it was a Christmas gift. He couldn't go to sleep until we did a couple pages.

I am so totally proud of myself right now. I just designed my embroidery blog page myself! Thanks to "The Cutest Blog on the Block" for giving out the secrets. I actually did it last night but I was too scared to post it thinking it wouldn't really work. Well, every time I log into the blog it's still there! Ha! Cool!

You know it's been a while since your last post when your husband says, " you haven't posted anything for a week?" I better get to work on this then!

The past week was re arranging kids rooms, painting, throwing away,organizing......work, but fun work........well,......for me ( I wasn't doing the painting)

I took before pics of everything, but since it's not completely done I don't want to post them yet.

O.k. I've been busted.
While eating dinner with my husband tonight, he told me he was reading the post I wrote that I said I gained 2 lbs. and didn't know how it happened. And he said it like he didn't believe me!
I think he might have even rolled his eyes too. He just had to bring up my itsy bitsy tiny bowl of ice cream that I have before bed. Now, really....I put a banana in with it!

He shook his head too. Apparently having a banana with your ice cream is the same as eating a cookie with oatmeal in it. Or how about pizza with a diet coke.

So Troy ate the last of the ice cream tonight. sigh. I could just eat the banana........I wonder if publix is still open :)

Well I am glad it's Friday. No real reason for it, just the end of a week.

My kids are playing outside, husband is feeling much better, routine back to normal....except my running which was put on hold while everyone was sick. Ahhh..I can take a deep breath and relax. These moments are what chocolate is for. :)

Thank you, everyone, for your birthday wishes to Caitlin. She had a great day! The crown is still on her head! She got a Barbie and a Barbie jeep and a horse with long hair to brush.

My attempt to make a barbie cake failed so many times. We made more cupcakes instead. She likes the frosting the best.:)

She's 3 years old and I am sure in no time at all I'll be posting her 4th. Time goes by so fast! She has been a blessing to our family and we are so proud of her!

Caitlin's birthday is tomorrow but we got an early start celebrating. I made these today and she thought they were bootiful.

I am still going to try a Barbie cake for her. Wish me luck!

I am wondering how come all day long I was so tired and right now.......not so much? It's going on 1 am and I am cursing daylight savings!

It was nice having sunshine all day today. We have been having some great weather, the other day we filled up Caitlin's little pool. She loves to play in the water with the hose. I watched her fill buckets and pour them out. What is it with kids and their tongue when they are involved in such serious play? Caitlin can't do anything without her tongue hanging half way out of her mouth. Dylan wouldn't be able to draw either. weird...

It's Saturday morning and I am running a bit slow but that's o.k. Troy finally went to the Drs. and got something to help him feel better. He lost 13 Lbs.. over 2 weeks of everybody being sick and clingy to mom!
Right now they are all in the game room playing ( and coughing) with each other. I am going on vacation! ( in my mind at least)
Well it's true what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. :) I hope we are now immune to anything lurking out there.
I'm off to get ready for Caitlin's birthday this Tues. she turns 3 years old. She wants a barbie doll cake. The last time we were in publix she saw one on display. "OH MOMMY LOOK! "
Her favorite thing right now is Tinkerbell. We watched that movie a hundred times while she was sick!
